Social Media Code of Conduct

(For Parents, Guardians, and Participants)

1. Our Commitment to You

  • We celebrate our young performers by sharing photos, videos, and updates that highlight their creativity and achievements.

  • We will only post images or videos of participants whose parents have agreed in accordance with the media release signed as a part of registration.

  • We will never share personal contact information or identifying details (such as home addresses or school names).

  • We will monitor our official social media pages to ensure they remain safe, respectful, and encouraging spaces.

2. Your Commitment to Our Community

  • Positivity First: Please keep all comments and posts about RCTC, its staff, and participants respectful and supportive.

  • No Negative or Harmful Content: Publicly posting disparaging remarks, personal attacks, or gossip about RCTC or any participant is not permitted. Concerns should be addressed privately with RCTC staff.

  • We encourage thoughtful posting within our RCTC community, which includes many performers under age 13 and families with different comfort levels around online sharing. You are welcome to post photos of yourself or your child; when other children’s faces are clearly visible, we encourage checking with their parents or using tools such as face‑blurring. If a parent raises a concern about an image that includes their child, RCTC may request that it be removed in support of a respectful community.

  • Appropriate Tagging: If you share RCTC-related content, please tag our official accounts and use approved hashtags.

  • Kindness Beyond RCTC Pages: While this policy focuses on official RCTC social media, our general Code of Conduct applies to all online and digital interactions between participants. This includes private messages, group chats, and posts on personal accounts. Cruel, exclusionary, or hurtful behavior is not acceptable and may be addressed by RCTC.

3. Restricted Materials & Privacy Laws

  • RCTC follows all applicable privacy laws, including the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), to protect the safety and privacy of our participants.

  • Certain materials — such as private cast lists, rehearsal schedules, internal communications, or documents containing participant contact information — are not to be posted or shared publicly without explicit permission from RCTC.

  • While cast information may sometimes be published officially by RCTC, only those versions may be shared online.

  • Parents and participants should only share official RCTC social media posts or approved promotional materials to help celebrate our productions while keeping everyone safe.

4. Photo & Media Guidelines

  • This policy works in conjunction with RCTC’s Photo & Media Release form.

  • You may withdraw consent at any time in writing, and RCTC will honor your request for future posts.

5. Consequences for Violations

  • Posts or comments that violate this code will  be removed.

  • Repeated or serious offenses  may result in restricted participation in RCTC activities as detailed in the River City Theatre Company Code of Conduct.
