Welcome to RCTC!
Thank you for being here.
Choosing musical theatre is a truly magical journey.
YOUR ADVENTURE STARTS HERE
Everyone who registers for a River City Theatre Company Workshop Production is accepted. (NOTE: We do review all applications and conflict forms for potential concerns and conflicts related to the production. In rare cases, we may not be able to accept an application.)
All participants will not only be in the production, they will go through professional acting, dance, and vocal training. If there is a particular part your child’s hoping to land, we offer auditions. Auditions are held to determine who will perform the lead roles.
The first weekend of our workshop includes an introduction to the show, dance training, and a vocal rehearsal. This includes rehearsing music selections assigned by the musical director in preparation for auditions.
Auditions are typically held the second weekend. Please click on the Audition Prep & Process page for more info.

We will give a brief overview of the entire process from orientation to closing night. Cast Members will have headshots taken and be measured for costumes.

Additional lead, vocal, and/or dance rehearsals, for leads or those given specialty roles, may be held on Fridays from 6:00pm to 9:00pm or Saturday from 1:30 to 7:00 or Sunday from 12:00 to 8:00pm. These rehearsals will be scheduled each week for specific roles. All age groups may be called in for additional weekend rehearsals – these could include Friday evenings or Saturday/Sunday afternoons.
Rehearsals will be held at Hawkins until midway through the rehearsal process. Rehearsals will then be moved to Natomas High School for the remainder of the workshop.
TECH WEEK
“Tech Week” is the final week of rehearsal prior to our opening performance. During this time additional rehearsals will occur on the weekend and every weeknight evening by cast. These rehearsals are mandatory to prepare for opening night.
FIELD TRIP SHOWS
We offer 2 days of matinee performances to allow elementary and middle schools to see our musical theatre performance live. Field trip shows will be performed at Natomas High School. Cast members will perform in field trip shows only one of the two days (unless they are double cast). California Education code allows for an excused absence for participation in a performance for a public school pupil audience. There will be one weeknight rehearsal for each cast prior to the field trip show.
CAST MEMBER ATTENDANCE
Cast member commitment to the production is critical. Rehearsal attendance helps members become comfortable and confident in their roles. Rehearsals require the attendance of ALL cast members in order to be effective. This includes arriving on time and prepared. Please see Rehearsal and Attendance Page for more information about attendance policy.
CONFLICT FORM
All cast members are required to file a conflict form. This form is your declaration of any and all conflicts during the 11-week workshop. Conflicts include any commitment that would prevent you from participating in a rehearsal day, or arriving late.
SCHOLARSHIPS
A variety of scholarships are available to make it possible for your child to participate in River City Musical Theatre Company!
The RCTC Ronald Cisneros Scholarship is intended for families who can not financially afford to pay registration fees and/or costume fees and would therefore remove their chances to participate in an RCTC workshop/production. To apply and be considered for the RCTC Ronald Cisneros Scholarship, you must fully complete and submit the application at least one week BEFORE the registration deadline, as noted on the RCTC registration page for each workshop / production. We are unable to accept scholarship applications submitted after the deadline.
For more information, please email treasurer@rivercitytheatreco.org.
